BattlePaint Guide

BattlePaint is a shooting game that can be played alone or with a second human player. This two player game features simplistic graphics and high-paced gameplay. Achievements are not available in this version of the game.

The objective of BattlePaint is to survive as long as possible against waves of enemies. Colliding with enemies lowers your health (represented by the bar above your square). When your health is depleted, the game will end (or you will be removed from the game while the other player continues, if you are playing in a 2 player game). Your progress is not saved, so you will have to start at the beginning each time that you play this shooting game.

BattlePaint uses a keyboard control setup that is similar to the two-joystick control scheme of the classic arcade game, Smash TV. In a one-player game, the WASD keys are used to move and the arrow keys are used to shoot in the respective direction. In a two player game, player one uses the WASD keys to move and the TFGH keys to shoot, while player two uses the arrow keys to move and the 8, 4, 5, and 6 keys on the numeric keypad to shoot. Number lock must be activated for player two to be able to shoot. To move or shoot diagonally, press the two keys that the angle that you wish to move or shoot in is between. Unfortunately, it is possible that not all keystrokes will register depending on the model of your keyboard and you cannot remap the controls so you are stuck with this setup.

Unlike other shooting games, BattlePaint does not use a pickup or shop system to upgrade weaponry. Instead, killing enemies fills the small yellow bar beneath your square. When this bar is full, your weapon will be upgraded. When your weapon is upgraded, the bar will continuously decrease and your weapon will be downgraded when the bar is depleted. For this reason, it may be a good idea to hold the fire button down and let enemies run into your bullets to keep your weapon's power level up. In a 2 player game, this may be a problem, however, since some of the keystrokes may not register on the keyboard.

BattlePaint is a colorful and entertaining shooting game that is easy to pick up but challenging to master. Although it is easier to play as a single-player game, it can also be enjoyed as a two player game!
