Pillars is a flying game that requires skillful maneuvering. This airplane game features three-dimensional graphics, nine courses, and a two player game mode.
The objective of Pillars is to avoid crashing into objects and to survive as long as possible. If you are playing a 2 player game your objective will also be to slam your opponent into objects to cause them to crash. There are nine courses in this flying game, one for each planet of our Solar System (yes, Pluto still counts as a planet). The closer the planet is to the sun, the easier the course will be.
Pillars uses the keyboard as its control device. By default, player one moves by using the arrow keys while player two moves with the WASD keys. The default controls work well enough in this two player game, but they are customizable if you'd rather use a different set of keys. Since it is unlikely for any one player to hold down more than two keys at any given time, there is little chance of keystrokes going unregistered.
Skillful maneuvering is the key to success in Pillars. If you cannot avoid crashing into structures, your energy will be depleted and you will lose. Clipping a structure damages your craft, while hitting a structure head-on will result in instant death. Energy can be regained by almost touching a structure but not actually contacting it) replenishes a small amount of energy. This may not be worth the effort, however, since you will lose more energy by crashing than you would have gained. Flying closely to structures is especially dangerous in 2 player games since your opponent will be able to easily knock your craft into the building!
Pillars is a straightforward flying game that is excellent for casual gaming breaks. If you have a friend to play with, you can enjoy competition in this two player game!
